SMS lotteries are an intrinsic part of the promotion of products and services. They allow to present consumers with much more convenient  mechanisms of promotion. There is no requirement of creativity or knowledge, the user can take part in such a lottery immediately after purchasing a product, without performing additional duties such as filling out lottery vouchers, forms etc.

Lotteries , pursuant to the Polish Act of 19 November 2009 on Gambling and gaming, are divided into promotional and audiotext lotteries. Specific qualification of a given service depends on the form of registration (SMS, website, scratch cards etc.).

Lotteries can be held only on the basis of a relevant permission granted by the Customs Office.
